TRUST, BUT CHECK!
The company that performs the galvanizing regularly checks the thickness of the zinc layer on the product with special measuring apparatus. In addition, the overall appearance and the extent of possible defects are examined.
When larger visual defects are found the client is informed and a joint inspection is performed, the cause of the defects is determined, and a satisfactory solution for both parties will be found.
Upon the request of the contracting entity a measurement report is issued to prove the quality of the galvanizing process.
GALV-EST AS guarantees that the quality of the galvanizing is in accordance with the ISO 1461 standard on the condition that the steel that is used and the structure of the product are suitable for hot-dip galvanizing and in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 14713 standard.
To get better results it is recommended to submit a steel certificate along with the order.
The following table lists the minimum required thickness of the zinc surface on hot-dip galvanized materials:
The product and its rated thickness | Localised thickness of the layer (at least) µm | Average thickness of the layer (at least) µm |
Steel, >= 6 mm | 70 | 85 |
Steel, < 3,…< 6 mm | 55 | 70 |
Steel, > 1,5…< 3 mm | 45 | 55 |
Steel, > 1,5 mm | 35 | 45 |
Cast products, > 6 mm | 70 | 80 |
Cast products, < 6 mm | 60 | 80 |
The following table lists the layer thickness for materials galvanized through centrifugal galvanizing:
The product and its rated thickness | Localised thickness of the layer (at least) µm | verage thickness of the layer (at least) µm |
6… < 20 mm diameter | 45 | 55 |
20 mm diameter | 35 | 45 |
< 6 mm diameter | 20 | 25 |
